Emergencies

Campus Emergencies

In the event of any Police, Medical, or Fire emergency students should call 911 immediately.  The caller should provide their name, telephone number, location (Campus, room number, and/or area such as parking lot) and describe the emergency situation to the 911 operator.  The appropriate emergency services agency will be dispatched to the location of the emergency from the respective regional 911 Communications Center. If an emergency requiring mass alert notification (such as an extreme severe weather event or active intruder) occurs, the college will activate an alert through a variety of communications mediums including text messaging, campus loud speakers, MTCVNN, voice mail, email, college intranet, and the MTC website homepage as well as local media.  The alert messages will provide information on the campuses affected by the event, the level of the alert and response instructions as well as any additional follow on information/ instructions.

In addition, MTC has placed emergency call boxes in campus parking lots to provide immediate contact with the MTC Police Department Communications Center in the event of an emergency. Students and employees are asked to report non-emergency safety concerns or suspicious activities to the MTC Police Department at 803.738.7850 or email campuspolice@midlandstech.edu.

All students are strongly encouraged to register for the college’s emergency text messages by using the link to MTC ALERTS found under the Services and Links section on MyMTC Student home page.

Family Emergencies

When a family emergency exists, the MTC Police Department will attempt to deliver a message to a student. Students are strongly encouraged to leave a copy of their class schedule with relatives to save time if an emergency arises.
