New and Future Students

You've made a great investment in your future.

Just accepted?

Congratulations!

Here are the next steps for you:

Apply for Financial Aid

Submit a FAFSA at fafsa.gov, then complete the MTC Scholarships Application. These two steps will qualify you for scholarships, grants, loans and work study programs that can fund your education.

The MTC school code for the FAFSA is 003993. For help completing the FAFSA, contact the Educational Opportunity Center at 803.822.3749.

Financial Aid

FYI: The priority deadline to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is April 15th for the Fall term and November 15th for the Spring term. We encourage you to apply as soon as your taxes are completed due to some funds being limited and awarded based on eligibility criteria and the FAFSA submission date.

Activate Your MyMTC Account

The Admissions Office will send you information to log in to two important student accounts: MyMTC (your student portal) and MyMTC Email (your college email). This is how you'll receive all future communications from the college about your classes.

How to activate and set up your MyMTC account

Questions? Call 803.738.8324, choose option 9.

Take Placement Tests

Some students will need to take the college's placement test. Other students may qualify to exempt all or part of the test.

Examples of exemption criteria include qualifying SAT®/ACT® scores or high school GPA (for recent high school graduates), qualifying previous college credit, and/or certain advanced standing exams.

After you apply to MTC, the Admissions Office will let you know what, if any, placement tests you need to take.

Complete Online New Student Orientation

Questions? Call 803.822.6755.

Complete Your Academic and Career Advising Appointment and Register for Classes

Your Academic and Career Advisor will help you know what classes you need to take and help you understand if you are in the program that best fits your career goals. You will receive tools to help you register at the close of the appointment.

Students can schedule their advising appointment through their MyMTC account

Pay for Your Classes

After you register for classes, pay any balance due by the payment deadline. Your balance can be viewed on your MyMTC account. It will include any financial aid awards.

Note: Payment is required for courses even if you do not attend class, so make sure to officially withdraw from the class if you've changed your mind, so that you won't owe any fees!

Buy Your Books

Textbooks and supplies are available through campus bookstores. Students with financial aid may have a bookstore allowance.

Bookstore Locations: Airport and Beltline Campus Student Centers
Airport Bookstore: 803.822.3577
Beltline Bookstore: 803.790.7566

Register for Parking

To park on campus, you will need to register your vehicle, then pick up a student parking permit to display on your vehicle. Look for the vehicle registration link on MyMTC.

Get a Student ID

Have your Student Photo ID made at the Office of Student Life after tuition and fees are paid.

FYI: Riding the COMET bus is free with your MTC Student ID, and not just to and from campus.

Download the COMET App to view routes and times.
