Assessment, Research and Planning

The Office of Assessment, Research and Planning (ARP) provides research and data analysis in support of institutional effectiveness and planning throughout Midlands Technical College (MTC). ARP manages and coordinates the college's institutional accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and the Director of ARP serves as the college's accreditation liaison. ARP continuously works with MTC Executive Council to design, implement and manage the institution's multi-year strategic plan.

The bookstores offer new and used textbooks, reference books and school supplies, including required drafting, graphics, computer, dental and nursing supplies. The School of Education and Public Service offers a variety of educational pathways designed to prepare students for careers in education and public service areas. Engineering Technologies

Engineering Technology degree programs include Architectural Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Chemical Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology. The Mechanical Engineering Technology degree offers concentrations in Computer Aided Design, Mechanical Systems, and Manufacturing. Students can earn an Associate in Applied Science degree in Fundamental Engineering with various concentration areas available, after taking courses that comprise the first two years of a four-year engineering major.

A number of the programs within the Engineering Technologies have developed flexible, short-term certificate programs designed for students who wish to specialize in one area of employment.

Humanities

Humanities faculty are dedicated to helping students grasp a critical understanding of their cultural heritage, as well as the cultural heritage of others - including cultural diversity, artistic perspective, and philosophical foundations. Humanities courses in art, music, theatre, history, philosophy, religion, public speaking and Foreign Languages fulfill requirements for various Associate Degrees and Certificates at Midlands Technical College and transfer to senior institutions. New Student Orientation

All new freshmen and all new transfer students must attend our Mandatory In-Person Orientation.  Their advising appointment will be a part of this program orientation. This New Student Orientation session will engage the student with their peers, provide and an overview of both the School of Study and program to make sure that it is the “right fit.” Mandatory New Student Orientation is free and hosted by Academic and Career Advising.

Office of Philanthropy

The Office of Philanthropy supports MTC by building and sustaining relationships that result in resources for the students' faculty and staff, and programs of the college. The Philanthropy team helps donors provide financial support such as student scholarships and program funding through the MTC Foundation. The team also works with alumni and friends of the college who provide volunteer and mentor support through various college initiatives such as the MTC Alumni Association and program-specific advisory boards. The MTC Alumni Association helps keep graduates connected with MTC in ways that bring value to them and to the broader community.

School of Advanced Manufacturing and Skilled Trades

In the School of Advanced Manufacturing and Skilled Trades, associate degree programs are offered in Commercial Graphics Communication; Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Technology; Mechatronics Technology; and Building Construction Technology. Advanced Manufacturing and Skilled Trades also offers the associate degree in General Technology/Occupational Technology, which allows a student to plan an individual program of study to meet specific needs. Diplomas are offered in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanics, Industrial Electricity/Electronics, and Machine Tool. A number of the programs within Industrial Technologies have developed flexible, short-term certificate programs designed for students who wish to specialize in one area of employment, such as Mechatronics, Machine Tool Technology, six different Automotive certificates and Welding.

Opportunities for specialization include entrepreneurship, customer service, supervision, public administration, sales and retail management, and digital marketing. Continue to a four-year institution after completing the two-year business transfer degree or the Supply Chain Manager 2 + 2 program, which leads directly to the Operations and Supply Chain Management Degree at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.

The School of Interdisciplinary Studies serves students who need a customized curriculum plan to prepare for careers that require skills and higher education in multiple disciplines. The School of Science, Information Systems Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) offers a variety of educational pathways designed to prepare students for wide-ranging careers in the disciplines of science, IT, engineering, and mathematics. Opportunities for specialization include, but are not limited to, software and website development, computer networking, biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, architecture, and surveying. Students can continue to a four-year institution after completing the two-year associate in science transfer pathways in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, or pre-professional studies. Students may also pursue bachelor degrees in several engineering and computer-related disciplines via the Engineering Fundamentals 2 + 2 and Computer Technology articulation agreements in place with multiple South Carolina colleges and universities.

Veteran's Affairs

This office serves MTC student veterans and their dependents. If you are a veteran or the dependent of a veteran, this office will assist you with veterans education benefits for which you are eligible. MTC has been designated as a VetSuccess on Campus program by the Veteran’s Administration and offers a wide array of veterans’ support services through this program. MTC is the only college in South Carolina that offers this program.
