SC State Constable Training Program: Basic Course

State constables are commissioned by SLED and support SC law enforcement. Prior to registering for this class, candidates must submit an application for the Constable program to SLED and receive approval to take this training. Students must pass a comprehensive test and qualify with firearms. Yearly in-service training updates are required. The curriculum includes: firearms, laws of arrest, searches and seizures, evidence, crisis intervention, human/community relations, SLED policies and procedures affecting constables. The Criminal Justice Academy does not control any part of the constable program or tuition, but only provides the training manuals. Offsite weekend sessions will be scheduled for firearms training. The instructor will provide details during the first day of class.
Advanced Pipe Welding

This class will provide extensive practice of three advanced pipe welding situations. Using both the gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) process and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), you will first weld a 2-3/4 X 5/8 carbon pipe, known as a monster coupon, in the 6G fixed positon. Next, you will learn to weld a stainless monster coupon, in the 6G fixed position using the GTAW process, or TIG all the way. Finally, you will weld a stainless and carbon monster coupon in the 6G fixed position using TIG all the way.
