Midlands Technical College’s Practical Nursing program meets the educational requirements to apply for Practical Nursing licensure in Kentucky upon successful completion of the jurisprudence examination prescribed by the Kentucky Board of Nursing. The Practical Nursing Program at Midlands Technical College is approved by the state of South Carolina Board of Nursing and accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Graduates of the Practical Nursing program are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN exam.

Program: Surgical Technology

MTC’s Surgical Technology program meets the educational requirements for licensure in Kentucky. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon recommendation of the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARCST/SA). The State of Kentucky requires individuals to be licensed in order to be allowed to practice in the state. Applicants for a license must show proof of either the CSFA or the CSA certification and graduation from either a CAAHEP-accredited or military surgical assisting program or meet the requirements under 311.866. Also, applicants must demonstrate at least 800 hours of performance as an assistant in surgical procedures supervised by a U.S.-licensed physician during the 3 years prior to applying for the license.

Applicants must earn a passing score on the NCLEX- RN and a minimum score of 80% on the Jurisprudence Exam. Kentucky is a member of NLC. MTC ADN graduates who meet primary residence and NLC uniform licensure requirements may apply for licensure by exam. MTC’s Associate Degree Nursing program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

MTC’s Associate in Applied Science in Respiratory Care program meets the educational requirements for initial licensure for Respiratory Therapist in Kentucky. An official transcript from MTC showing the AAS.RTT3 degree as conferred must be sent to National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) upon graduation. Applicants must hold credentials as a registered respiratory therapist (RRT) or a certified respiratory therapist (CRT), as granted by the NBRC or its successor organization.
