The Honorable Tomothy Edmond
“We live in a society where if you do not further your education, you will severely limit your career options.”
Growing up in rural Lexington County, my family has always instilled in me the value of education. Therefore, after serving my country in the Armed Forces, I decided to attend Midlands Technical College. I knew I needed a degree to go to the next level in my career path.

"Ever since I was a little boy growing up in rural Lexington County, my family has always instilled in me the value of education. We live in a society that if you do not further your education, you will severely limit your career options. Therefore, after serving my country in the Armed Forces, I decided to attend Midlands Technical College. I knew I needed a degree to go to the next level in my career path. My wife was an MTC graduate, and I saw how her education furthered her career in the federal government.
MTC had faculty and staff ready to help me transition into college life. Tutors in the library helped me get on the internet to do research. The Freshman 101 course helped me get the tools I needed to succeed in the classroom. My instructors really set me and other students up for success. I cannot thank them enough for the tools they provided.
My education at MTC helped me develop some unique networking abilities. It helped me build a strong work ethic, and it helped me become a better individual in my community. MTC is one of the best institutions in preparing you for the future on every level. I credit the Criminal Justice Technology Degree for providing the basic framework on which to build my expertise as a legal professional. I also attribute my success to my strong religious faith.
We live in a society that if you do not further your education, you will severely limit your career options.
I have been serving the County of Richland since 2008. I love challenges. I love my profession. I love that Midlands Technical College helped get me here.
Anything is possible in this great country if we stay focused and committed to our goals. I’ve lived my life by this, and it allowed me to get my college degree and finish the race."
