When Cyntia Seumo was awarded a scholarship from Midlands TechHire at Midlands Technical College (MTC), she says her life started clicking.

Only 18 weeks after beginning her first class at MTC, Cyntia completed training in the Desktop and Server Administrator program and received a paid internship with Columbia-managed IT services and business products provider, Carolina Business Equipment.

“I got the A+, the Network Plus, the Cloud Plus- and the Security Plus training at Midlands Tech with the TechHire Program… all in about 6 months,” said Seumo.

“It's very straight forward. The professors are friendly, and you're marketable in a short amount of time.”

And that’s not all. While Cyntia was receiving the above IT training through MTC’s Corporate and Continuing Education classes, known as CCE classes, she was also taking classes on MTC’s academic side in order to earn college credits and get an Associate Degree in Science.

“I was doing them simultaneously…. It’s very straight forward, the professors are friendly, and you’re marketable in a short amount of time,” she said.

A degree, multiple IT certifications, a paid internship, and Cyntia’s MTC experience doesn’t stop there. 

“It landed me this awesome job!”

With training and hard work, Cyntia’s internship at Carolina Business Equipment transitioned into a full-time position.

“MTC has positively affected my life because it helped me gain confidence in my abilities and knowing I’m capable of getting things accomplished, going somewhere, and making myself known.”

“Cyntia’s a great example. She literally hit the ground running on day one,” said John Morelock, Carolina Business Equipment Director of IT Solutions and Services.

“I’m very thankful for everything I have,” said Seumo. “It happened so quickly, and it happened so smoothly. This is probably one of the first times where something I worked really hard for actually came to fruition. You really can get anywhere from Midlands Technical College!”
