On the Radio: Discussing Non-traditional Career Paths

On Sunday June 9, Midlands Technical College's Miranda Y. Bates was a guest on the BigDM 101 radio program "Onpoint! With Cynthia Hardy."

The topic of discussion was higher education and non-traditional paths for students to find family-sustaining careers. Those lucrative careers include skilled trades like HVAC, plumbing, and construction.

"It is all about just getting to know the students and what they like and what they want to do," said Bates. "If I don't have the resources there, I know how to get the resources to them."

Other guests on the program included Richland School District One leaders: Heyward Career and Technology Center Principal Dr. Craig Washington, Sean Livingson and Courtney Moody, Richland One Middle College.
