Database Analyst

Overview

Every business has data needs. In a business climate where everything is tracked digitally and as businesses become increasingly agile, the database analyst will find their skill set in high demand. Database analysts are employed across a wide variety of industries as businesses seek out skilled professionals to help them unlock and leverage the full potential of their data assets to allow them to excel.

A database analyst has competencies in the creation, management, and usage of databases. This includes data normalization, the creation of relational databases, creating secure identity management solutions for single- and multi-user database environments, proficiency in database software solutions including, but not limited to MS Access, T-SQL, and Oracle. Additional areas of proficiency include data-storage solutions, database troubleshooting, implementing cloud solutions, needs-based data-design goals, the creation of secure input forms, change management in data environments, installing and configuring database server software, organizing and maintaining data sources, leveraging business intelligence to produce real-time reports, data visualizations, trending/forecasting, and dashboards to help businesses use their data to make the most accurate decisions available.

Agile Fundamentals is the most widely used Agile Methodology, Scrum, for managing software development projects. Upon completing the Agile Fundamentals course, you will be able to participate on any project team and understand the Agile roles and responsibilities. Many organizations are changing the way software development projects are implemented. Completing the Agile Fundamentals course will increase your opportunities for IT careers in the software development IT arena.  

This program prepares you to obtain the Microsoft Specialist: Access certification.

To earn this certificate, students must successfully complete the following courses within a two-year period.

  • Attend an information session. Information sessions last approximately two hours and are free to attend.
  • Be a South Carolina resident for 12 consecutive months. Applicants will be required to submit documentation for proof of residency (Driver's license, Beginner's permit, or state issued ID).
  • Not be in default on any federal student loans and not owe MTC or any other college monies.
  • Submit an application. You will need to enter your student ID on the application.
  • Scholarship recipients will be in communication with the Program Director responsible for the program for which they applied.
  • Some programs require clean SLED background checks and clean drug/alcohol tests.

Students must successfully complete these courses within a two-year period. This program can be completed in three to four months.

On-Campus Traditional. Classes meet on campus.
Virtual 100% online. Meets with a live instructor and classmates on specific days, at specific times. Uses web conferencing software, like Zoom.
Hybrid Some classes on campus. Some classes online or virtual.
Online 100% online. Due dates for projects and assignments. Self-paced work on your time.
