Here Comes Dasher, and Dancer, and Prancer, and Morihiko at Harbison Theatre at MTC for Holiday Pops on December 15

Grab your Santa Claus hats, get into the festive spirit, and plan to sing along with the South Carolina Philharmonic when Holiday Pops returns to Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College on Sunday, December 15. Join Morihiko Nakahara and a special guest or two to ring in the holiday season with classic carols and holiday hits.

There are two performances again this year, and prior to each performance, there will be refreshments and carolers in the lobby for guests to enjoy. The 3:30 PM show is sold out, but there are still seats available for the 7:30 PM performance.

“This wonderful event has been a staple of the theatre programming since opening our doors in 2012, and it’s a special way to celebrate the holidays with family and friends,” says Kristin Cobb, Executive Director of Harbison Theatre. “Hearing the Philharmonic play all your favorite seasonal songs, especially in our 400-seat venue, is really something special. ”

The South Carolina Philharmonic is led by conductor Morihiko Nakahara. The 2019-2020 season marks Nakahara’s 12th season as Music Director of the South Carolina Philharmonic and 17th season as Resident Conductor of the Spokane Symphony Orchestra. Nakahara also serves as Director of Orchestral Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Known for his charismatic presence on and off the podium, innovative and audience-friendly programming skills, and thoughtful interpretations of both standard and contemporary repertoire, Nakahara was featured in the League of American Orchestra’s prestigious Bruno Walter National Conductor Preview in March 2005. Recent guest conducting engagements include appearances with the Buffalo Philharmonic, symphonies of Oregon, Jacksonville, Charleston, Chattanooga, Stockton, Lansing, Peoria, and Green Bay, as well as with the Chicago Pro Musica and the 2019 Maine All-State Orchestra.
