MTC to Claflin University
While at Midlands Technical College, students will receive admissions, financial aid, scholarship and advisement information from Claflin Univeristy. Students may also participate in targeted activities to support their successful transfer. In addition to traditional courses offered on the Claflin main campus in Orangeburg, SC, Claflin University also offers courses for baccalaureate degree completion in the Columbia area. Baccalaureate degree completion programs in Sociology and Criminal Justice Administration, Organizational Management and Education are offered in Columbia at Fort Jackson and/or Brookland Baptist Church.
Transfer consideration for traditional transfer students requires that students maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0, earn no less than a “C” in any course eligible for transfer, and submit official transcripts from all previous colleges, along with their admissions application to Claflin. While it is anticipated that students will spend at least a full year at MTC, students meeting Claflin’s continuing education admission requirements may transfer after one semester. Claflin and MTC both promote associate degree attainment and encourage transferring students to complete their associate degree while attending MTC or after transfer to Claflin by transferring their credits back to MTC. MTC students who have earned at least 45 credit hours of transferrable work may apply to Claflin University’s degree completion programs referenced above.
