A Little Perspective
Prisma Partnership
Walk the halls of some of our local hospitals - Lexington Medical Center, MUSC Health Midlands, and Prisma Health Baptist. You are sure to find a handful of nurses who got their start at Midlands Technical College. Some many years ago, others, just putting on scrubs for the first time.
As the trusted community college partner in the Midlands of South Carolina, MTC works with our hospital systems to generate talent to keep our community healthy. One way we do this is through apprenticeships. I recently had the opportunity to walk the halls of the labor and delivery unit at Prisma Health Baptist with Athelstine Turner and Casey Deyulis, two nursing apprentices. The flexibility and opportunities presented to them allow their studies and practical experience to be combined to create a true hands-on learning environment, all while getting paid.
If you have a few minutes, I encourage you to take a look at their stories. These two ladies have a strong career path ahead of them, and that's because of Prisma Health and Midlands Technical College.
