South Dakota - Physical Therapist Assistant
MTC’s Associate in Applied Science Degree for the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program meets the educational requirements for initial licensure for PTA in South Dakota. Applicants must earn a passing score on the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) for PTAs administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (fsbpt). Additionally, individual states may require a jurisprudence exam be passed prior to being licensed in that state. A jurisprudence exam is a test of the state’s specific laws and rules. All licensed physical therapist assistants (PTAs) should be familiar with the state practice act and rules under which they intend and are allowed to work.
Upon graduation, an official transcript from MTC showing the AAS.PTH3 (Physical Therapist Assistant) degree as conferred must be sent to the individual state licensure board in which a license is being applied for.
MTC’s Associate in Applied Science Degree for the Physical Therapist Assistant is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
