Wintermester: Student Resources

While MTC buildings are closed for the holidays, academic and student support services will still be available online and virtually for Wintermester students. For all current and prospective students, select online college functions will remain available.

Academic and Career Advising
  • Please email advisement@midlandstech.edu for assistance. Visit Academic and Career Advising’s MyMTC page for information on special drop-in Zoom hours for quick questions about your spring schedule or Wintermester course.
  • You’ll also find registration tools on the MyMTC page that can help you build or modify your spring schedule.  Scheduling Navigators will be available to provide live support via the Zoom platform with limited hours over the break.  Please check our registration page for full details.

Tutoring Services
  • Need help with your class? FREE online tutoring  is available to you from Tutor.com. To access Tutor.com, log on to D2L and select any of your courses. Once inside your course page, click on “More” at the top of the page and then select “Tutor.com”. Alternatively, once you log on to D2L and select one of your courses, you can scroll down on the main course page until you see a box on the right-hand side of the page that says “Free Online Tutoring” with a link to Tutor.com
Library Services
Textbooks
  • Eligible students may purchase textbooks with financial aid between December 13 and December 15. 

    Online orders may be placed at www.midlandstech.bncollege.com and will be accepted until midnight on December 15.

    The Airport bookstore will be closed on December 24, 2024, December 25, 2024,  and December 31 through January 2 and will reopen on January 3, 2025. The Beltline bookstore will close on December 20, 2024 and reopen on January 6, 2025.

Tuition and Fee Payment

Help Desk Tips for Before Classes Start
  • Students should make sure they can log in to MyMTC and D2L before the start of classes. If you need assistance, please contact our Help Desk at 803.738.7888 well before Dec. 18.
  • Respondus Lockdown Browser “locks down” the browser on your computer or tablet during an online exam. 
  • It is recommended that you do not use an iPad for D2L. If you have a iPad, know that you may experience difficulties completing coursework.
  • Chromebooks do not allow file downloads for submission to D2L. 
  • Students should use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, especially while accessing Pearson MyLab.
  • Students taking some IST courses should note that Microsoft Access does not function on a Mac.

Important Dates
  • December 13 - End of Fee Payment for Wintermester Classes

  • December 14 - Late Registration begins (A $150 Late fee is charged)

  • December 14 – Students enrolled in a Wintermester course begin receiving access to the course in D2L

  • December 18 – Wintermester classes begin

  • December 18 – End of add/drop (schedule change) period for Wintermester

  • December 22 – Wintermester midterm

  • January 3 – Last day to withdraw from a Wintermester class (with a “W”)

  • Week of January 6 – Final exams for Wintermester classes

  • January 7 – Last day of Wintermester classes
