SAB Leadership Retreat

One of the most enjoyable student events I attended was the Leadership Retreat, hosted by the Student Advisory Board. The purpose of the retreat was to teach you about your existing skills as a leader and to help you build other skills. I had the pleasure of meeting other students like me, and making new friends. We took a personality test, talked about different issues and concerns about being a leader, and planned a leadership project.

I was pleased to see such a variety of students in attendance and was glad to meet some members of the SAB. I was nervous about attending, but I brought a friend, and although we didn’t sit close to each other, I felt better not being alone. The ice-breakers were fun and everyone was more comfortable afterwards.

I would definitely recommend attending a few student functions, and if you’re nervous about going alone, invite a friend. It’s a great way to meet new people and learn more about the school and yourself. Don’t forget: student events are resume builders!
