Why I chose Midlands Technical College Whether you are just beginning your education or, like me, you’re coming back to school after a number of years away, Midlands Technical College provides a great educational experience and opportunity. Some people like the small student to teacher ratio, others like the size of the campus, and many people enjoy a short commute to school. For me, however, the benefits of transferable credits and lower tuition were the main reasons why I chose MTC. Nearly all the classes that I’ve been taking over the last two years at MTC are transferable to the University of South Carolina, where I plan to earn my bachelor’s degree. When I first started back to school I figured that I would just take enough to classes to allow me to apply to the university, but as I got into classes here and saw how much I could gain from being at MTC, I decided to take every class I could. There are published lists of transferable credits on both the USC and MTC websites, so it is pretty easy to find out which courses will transfer. Even with that information available, take the initiative to talk with our advisors and advisors from the university you plan to attend to determine if a class will truly transfer. As if transferable credit wasn’t enough reason to attend MTC, I found that tuition was way lower than any four-year institution around. In fact, two years at Midlands Technical College will cost about half of what I would pay for two years at the university. It’s pretty tough to beat these benefits. I think MTC is a great place to get a jump on your education without having a lot of debt when you are finished, and it has been a great experience for me. |
