What is a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) and why is MTC doing one?
- Every 10 years, degree-granting colleges and universities like MTC are reviewed for accreditation by SACS – the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
- The college prepares a report of its activities and submits it to SACS. In addition, as part of this process, the college proposes a five-year plan to improve student learning. This plan is the QEP – the Quality Enhancement Plan.
A visiting team representing SACS will be at MTC October 26-28. They will review the proposed QEP, the college’s plans to implement it, and the parts of the QEP that the college is piloting now.

What is MTC’s QEP? MTC’s QEP is The New Student Experience.
The New Student Experience has three goals:
Goal One: To support new students’ connection and engagement with the college community.
Goal Two: To create classroom learning communities (CLCs) that foster student success.
